Renée Revah was born in Athens. She studied acting at the Drama School of the Contemporary Theatre of Athens (1997−1999) and attended seminars in singing, dancing, theatrical lighting and abstract drawing and painting. She worked professionally in theatre performances from 1999 to 2001. Since 2001, she has been working as a photographer and graphic designer. Her projects include the cover photo and inlays for the live album and concert film “Live at Acropolis – Herod Atticus Odeon, Athens” by Sivert Høyem, and the cover of the single “Give it a whirl” / cover photo for the single “Fall to pieces” by Christer Knutsen and Marie Munroe.
In 2009, she attended the “Photography and Criticism Seminar” and a year-long seminar on “Introduction to Artistic Photography” by Platon Rivellis while simultaneously studying at the Focus School of Photography. In 2011 she attended the MasterClass of photographer Simon Norfolk. In 2016, she started underwater photography while freediving, which quickly developed into a passion.
In 2017, she received an honorary diploma from HPS in the Open Colour category for her photograph “Nostalgia” at the 1st International Printed Photo Exhibition Circuit. Additionally, she won gold awards in the “Music” and “Underwater” categories at the Moscow International Fotography Awards (MIFA). Her piece “White Urchin” was showcased at Artweeks Basel in 2017, and her works “Still Floating” and “Soul Diving” were exhibited at ARTBOX. PROJECTS New York 1.0 (Armory Art Weeks) in 2018.
On May 19, 2024, her solo photography exhibition entitled “Tehom” (Abyss) was inaugurated. This exhibition follows in the footsteps of her family members from Thessaloniki to Auschwitz, aiming for healing and purification. Other works of hers have also been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad.
